Voice of SD Blog: Being Earnest About Class Size

What is happening to classrooms in San Diego...I can't decide if this is my statement or my question. I am curious to know what the public's priorities are for education. What do you want education to look like for your kids?

  1. Nice opinion piece. You state your case very well. Of course, I'm a baby boomer (by just a couple of years) and never went to a school that wasn't overcrowded. Still, I hope your op-ed has an impact on this and future generations.

  2. As you say, whether or not 17 is a magic number, once the size rises to 30,35,40, intuitively, the quality of the experience has to diminish.
And the attitude of the students presumably becomes more important: a class of 40 PhD students (for example), is presumably a very different mindset from 40 fifteen year olds.
