Nice opinion piece. You state your case very well. Of course, I'm a baby boomer (by just a couple of years) and never went to a school that wasn't overcrowded. Still, I hope your op-ed has an impact on this and future generations.
ReplyDeleteAs you say, whether or not 17 is a magic number, once the size rises to 30,35,40, intuitively, the quality of the experience has to diminish.
ReplyDeleteAnd the attitude of the students presumably becomes more important: a class of 40 PhD students (for example), is presumably a very different mindset from 40 fifteen year olds.
